Oh goodness... I'm so excited for tomorrow! May is just my favorite month out of the year! It's my birthday month, so there may be a little bias here, but it's so much more than that. May just seems to be the perfect month. The weather is bordering on spring and summer. Flowers and trees are in full bloom. School ends during May (normally, that is), and how could someone not love a month that begins your summer vacation?!
Of course, the days of a three-month long summer vacation are behind me, and I don't get to enjoy all of the amazing weather that May has to offer because I'm sitting behind my desk at work for the better part of the day. But it's still my favorite...
So in honor of my favorite month, my birthday month, I'm going to do things for me. Things that I enjoy. And I'm going to start with reading. I'm joining the Semi-Charmed Summer 2015 Book Challenge, and it just so happens to start on May 1st! I've posted the challenge and my selections here, if you'd like to check them out.
I'm going to start with Ella Enchanted, mainly because it's shorter and I feel like I can read it in a day or two (I'm aiming for a day). You see, at the beginning of the year, I decided that I needed to read more. Subsequently, I joined the Goodreads Reading Challenge and challenged myself to read 52 books in 2015. I have never, EVER read anywhere close to that number in a year. Not even when I was engulfed in the Harry Potter mania. It's a big goal for me. Anyways, I'm a book behind schedule, and I figured that reading a shorter children's book would be an easy way for me to catch back up. Killing two birds with one stone kinda thing.
At some point, I'm going to drag the boyfriend out to do some hiking. All this time spent indoors has me craving nature in a way I'd never imagined possible. So hiking is definitely going to be happening in May.
And finally (for now, anyways), I'm going to play my flute more. And I mean really play and practice, not just noodle around and kinda play. I have a lot of music in my possession that I have never tackled. May seems like the perfect time to do that. I'm not 100% sure what I will start learning first, but I can say that I will be revamping my scales and arpeggios...because "every truly cultured music student knows you must learn your scales and arpeggios." ;)
Until next time...
